About Jade
As a child Jade always knew
she was a bit different.
She always felt things deeply, she could see other’s invisible wounds beneath the surface and had a strong desire to ease others' pain.
Jade was bullied for being different but even at a young age, she was always curious about what was going on for the bullies, that meant they would behave in this way and cause pain to another, which at the time was her.
It’s not really surprising that she followed an education and a career in psychology, to better understand others, to better understand herself so that she could be best equipped to help people feel good about themselves from the inside out.
Jade has always been deeply passionate about learning and understanding people.
Over the years Jade has worked with children, adults and families and what became so clear was that everyone she worked with, no matter the service, they were carrying not only the wounds of their childhood, but the wounds of the many generations that came before them…
And she knew there and then,
that she was committed to helping break this cycle.
After many, many years of training and experience she finally became a fully qualified Clinical Psychologist
- and she felt so full of pride, knowing that she was going to help so many more people and families!
Then in 2018, when she decided to start a family of her own, she was so excited and felt confident in her abilities to be the best mum possible…
dedicated, passionate, determined, compassionate and knowledgeable about kids.
She couldn’t believe how hard she found adjusting to motherhood and parenting, despite on the outside looking like she had it all together (but on the inside she felt like she was drowning!)
Triggered by her own children, activating parts of herself that she never even knew existed before having kids!
And this is where she started her own journey
of compassionate discovery and learning new skills for herself and for those parents she now supports.
She developed her skills to help parents and families from the inside out - knowing that we cannot pour out what we do not pour in. And we cannot better understand our kids, without being open to better understanding ourselves.
She loves what
she does so much
because it makes such a difference!
To see the joy on a child’s face and a mother’s heart melt with love and confidence knowing that they have created the strongest bond and most loving relationship that will last way beyond our lifetime -
is both a gift and an absolute privilege to help parents with.

Dr Jade Redfern
BSc(Hons). PGDip. DClinPsy
Founder & Clinical Psychologist
-
I’m the Founder of Inside Out Parenting, Permission to Be Human and The Grounded Parent Pathway, and a Clinical Psychologist with a deep passion for supporting parents.
My work centres on helping parents understand what parenting is bringing up for them – the triggers, the overwhelm, the guilt, the moments they wish they’d handled differently. I support parents to feel calmer, more grounded and regulated, so they can respond to their children with clarity and compassion rather than reactivity.
At the heart of everything I do is the belief that parenting is not about perfection. It’s about understanding ourselves and our children more deeply, and building relationships rooted in safety and connection.
-
I primarily work with parents who want to feel calmer and more confident in their responses to their children.
Many of the parents I support are navigating big emotions, meltdowns, sibling conflict, anxiety, or behavioural challenges at home. Together, we explore what lies beneath these behaviours and how to respond in ways that strengthen connection rather than escalate tension.
I also specialise in supporting psychologist and therapist parents, recognising the unique pressure of holding professional expertise while navigating your own family life. Through one-to-one support and my Permission to Be Human programme, I create space for clinicians to reconnect with themselves as parents first.
Alongside this, I mentor psychologists who want to expand beyond traditional one-to-one work, building values-led practices that may include courses, memberships, and more sustainable, diverse income streams.
-
My approach blends evidence-based therapies – including EMDR, CBT, ACT and Compassion Focused Therapy – with attachment-informed, trauma-aware, and neuroscience-based understandings of child development.
I help parents make sense of both their child’s behaviour and their own emotional responses. Our work often involves developing regulation skills, deepening self-compassion and gently unlearning patterns that no longer serve them.
Rather than offering quick fixes, I focus on practical, grounded tools that work in real family life, alongside deeper relational work that creates lasting change.

I am a Clinical Psychologist, with over 14 years’ experience working within various NHS health settings. I am extremely passionate about working with individuals and families, supporting them through their difficulties by providing them with the safety and acceptance that a therapeutic space can offer them.

I work with adults and families, supporting them to overcome their distress and overwhelm, including difficulties managing anxiety, low mood or depression, relationship difficulties, specialist parenting support and the impact of traumatic life experiences. Together, we will make sense of your experiences, past and present and help you to become unstuck and move forward with your goals.
-
Using a collaborative approach, the main psychological models I use in therapy are Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I also use principles from Theraplay and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (a therapy focused on increasing security, safety and connection within relationships).
