Independent Clinical Psychology Services in Surrey

Parents & Foster Parents

I understand just how challenging it can be to raise young people in today’s increasingly complex world. I offer a telephone, online and face-to-face parent/ foster parent consultation service. I recognise that parents and carers of young people with often complex emotional needs, may require professional psychological support to prevent them suffering from burnout and to ensure they are able to provide the utmost emotional support for the young people they care for.

I provide psychological consultation to parents, adult relatives of children such as grandparents and aunts who act as kinship carers to young people and foster carers concerning a wide range of child and adolescent psychological and neurodevelopmental difficulties. To name a few these include:

  • Psychological effects of bullying

  • Homework / exam stress

  • Conduct disorder

  • Substance abuse

  • Emotional, physical and sexual abuse

  • Witnessing domestic violence

  • Depression

  • Self-harm

  • Suicidal ideation

  • Behavioural difficulties

  • Behaviours related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

  • Behaviours related to attention deficit & hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

I provide a clear psychological understanding often from a range of therapeutic perspectives of the underlying psychological determinants of the child or adolescent’s psychological difficulties. I also ensure that each consultation provides clear psychological recommendations and practical strategies as to how parents, kinship or foster carers can promote young people’s emotional wellbeing.

If you are unsure what the problem is, or would like some advice as to whether I may be able to help you or your child please don’t hesitate to contact me.
